Don Megrath

, Co-Founder and Managing Director

Don is co-founder of VectorPoint Ventures and the VectorPoint’s Impact Partners fund were he currently brings his extensive experience in early stage and growth stage investing, portfolio company management, entrepreneurship and finance to bear.  He has over 25 years of experience in board, finance and operational roles in a variety of industries and disciplines.  In his career he has served in several operational and leadership functions, including business development, finance, information technology, strategic planning and implementation, investment banking, and corporate development.   He has founded or co-founded several ventures and has held key management positions in several small and middle market companies, including serving as VP Finance, CFO, COO and board director positions in both private and public companies.  Don is a member of the Keiretsu Forum angel investment group; a member since 2010, he has also served as President or Co-President of the Portland, Oregon Chapter for six of the last seven years.  He is also a member of the Technology Association of Oregon and Oregon Entrepreneurs Forum.

Previously, Don served as a Senior Associate at a Northwest US based private equity firm where he led or was actively involved in closing over $100 million in total financing in over 50 transactions, including senior debt, mezzanine, and equity financing in small middle market private and public companies in a variety of industries.  Mr. Megrath also served as an officer or director in certain portfolio companies and he played a key role in structuring, closing, monitoring and exiting numerous investments in private and public growth companies.  These companies include CarePayment, Resolute Solutions, Printing Today, Microhelix, and Christianson Electric (high voltage division).

Prior to his tenure at the NW private equity firm, for approximately 8 years Mr. Megrath served in finance and operations roles in two information technology services companies, Integrated Information Systems, Inc. (IIS) and STEP Technology, Inc.  At IIS, a microcap public company at the time, Don served as VP Finance and Operations and later as Senior Vice President, CFO and Secretary, accomplishing numerous strategic initiatives during his tenure.  At STEP, Don served in various Vice President roles in operations and finance, for the last 2 years of his 5-year service as Vice President Operations and CFO, during his tenure he co-founded the company’s internet development group and lead the development of a company investment fund where the company provided services to certain customers in exchange for equity holdings, resulting in positive returns for the company.  Later he co-led the effort that culminated in the sale of the company.  Don began his career in the media production business, culminating as a producer, director and owner in media services companies including Media-Mania Group, VisionWorks, and Sight & Sound Alliance.  Mr. Megrath’s award winning work focused on business to business marketing media development using leading edge technology tools, from film and video to multi-media.   Clients included Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Kaiser Permanente, Legacy Health Systems, Sequent Computer Systems and Tektronix.

Mr. Megrath invested in his education at Oregon State University (undergraduate) and Portland State University (graduate), and for each degree finished university work at George Fox University, obtaining a B.A. degree in Telecommunications and an M.B.A.  Don has also served in several board or advisory board roles in public and private companies and non-profits.
